In general the Vedian forces can be divided into two parts those employed directly by the Crown and Council as a full time army and those provided by the duchies under their obligation to the kingdom.

Well trained and experienced men, mostly skilled in horse-back combat. Even though it has been some time since the action against a non-Vedian foe they keep busy with peace-keeping and boundary patrols. The kingdom army is divided into regiments that rotate duties on a quarterly basis. Here are some of regiments:

Highly trained warrior/mages that make a small but highly effective battallion. Often frowned on by ordinary masters of magic, the war mages have proved their battle efficiency with devistating effects on the enemy.

Monks of the martial order have become thinner and thinner on the ground. Kina's philosphy of necessary violence and self-sacrifice seem to be difficult to swallow for the present generation. Kina monks have only two ranks 'monk' and 'guardian'.

The standing army of the duchy of Lough has a nasty reputation, historically they have often been used a bargaining chip between the crown and the duke.

An elite force that was disbanded by the King at the time and ordered to disperse to the corners of the kingdom. All the men in this force were life soldiers carefully selected and intensively trained using a technique know as 'The Grim Path'. It is supposed that it was this special training that made the group so devastingly lethal, however the secret of it seems to have be lost along with the regiment. The sabre regiment were rumoured to have unusual resources at their disposal such as healing potions, scrying tools, displacer cloaks and enchanted armour.

Almost entirely manned by the people of the west coast the Vedian navy is one of it's most impressive components. Piracy has been almost exterminated by the edit of the Crown Prince. Internally the Vedian Navy considered itself the cream of Vedian military and answers to noone but the prince himself.
